What Calryn is
A catalogue for a personal watch collection: photographs, specifications, provenance, documents, straps, service history, a wear log, a timeline of the collection's story, and finances calculated from the figures you enter. It has no account, no server and no analytics. Everything is stored on your iPhone and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud database.
Before you write
- Sync between devices needs the same Apple Account signed in to iCloud on each device, with iCloud Drive on. Calryn shows the sync state in Settings and tells you plainly when it cannot store or sync your data.
- Your Recovery Key is shown once during setup and again in Settings → Security, behind Face ID or your passcode. If you lose both your iCloud Keychain and the Recovery Key, the encrypted fields cannot be recovered from your iPhone or iCloud by anyone, including me. The rest of your collection stays readable, and a backup file you saved earlier still holds those fields, because backup files are not encrypted.
- Backups live in Settings → Your data. The backup file is not encrypted by Calryn, on purpose, so that it can always be opened. Keep it somewhere private.
- Values and P&L are calculated from your own entries. Calryn does not source or verify prices.
