This notice applies to Calryn for iOS and iPadOS. It is the source of truth for the in-app Disclaimer screen (Settings → About → Disclaimer) and is written in plain English rather than legal language, in keeping with the rest of Calryn.

The short version

Calryn is a personal record-keeping tool. The values you see are your own estimates, Calryn doesn't authenticate watches, and you're responsible for the photos and details you add. Nothing here is financial advice. Calryn is free for a week, then a single one-time purchase unlocks it for good.

Valuations are your own estimates

Every value in Calryn, including current retail price, estimated market value, and the profit or loss figures calculated from them, is entered or maintained by you. Calryn doesn't source, verify, or guarantee any price, and nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, or insurance advice. Treat these figures as your own notes, not a valuation to rely on for buying, selling, or insuring a watch.

The same goes for the valuation history Calryn keeps. When you revise a watch's estimated value, Calryn records the change so you can see how your own figures have moved over time. That history is a record of what you entered and when. It is not a market index, an appraisal, or evidence of what a watch is worth.

Calryn doesn't authenticate watches

Calryn doesn't check whether a watch is genuine, confirm serial or reference numbers, or detect fakes. It makes no claim about the authenticity, condition, or ownership of anything you catalogue. Rely on a qualified professional for those decisions.

Your photos and content are your responsibility

You're responsible for owning the rights to any photo or document you add. Calryn doesn't check the copyright or ownership of what you upload, and isn't responsible for that content.

Sharing is up to you

Calryn can share a watch two ways, and both are your choice to make.

A Share PDF describes the watch, not your finances: Calryn never adds your purchase price, serial number, service costs or documents to it. It may show whether the watch is still under manufacturer warranty, based on the dates you recorded. You choose whether to include the purchase date, an asking price and any comments.

Sharing a single photo sends that image on its own. Calryn removed its location and camera metadata when you added it, but the picture itself is exactly what you photographed.

Either way, do check the photos before you send one. A photo may show a serial number, on a caseback or on paperwork you've photographed, and Calryn doesn't detect or hide that. What you share, and who you share it with, is your decision.

The free week and the one-time purchase

Calryn is free in full for seven days. You start the free week yourself, from the App Store at no charge, on a screen that appears once after you finish setting up; that screen tells you how long the week runs, what happens when it ends, and what the one-time purchase costs. After that it asks you to unlock it once, at the price shown in the App Store, and nothing renews.

When the week ends, Calryn shows the purchase screen in place of your collection, and using the app again requires the one-time purchase. Your collection is not removed: it stays on your iPhone and, if you have iCloud sync enabled, in your iCloud; sync and restore carry on as before; and the same screen lets you save a complete backup before you decide anything. The purchase itself, any refund, and Family Sharing are handled by Apple under the App Store's terms, not by us.

Looking after your data

Because there's no Calryn server and no copy of your data on our side, keeping access to your iCloud account and your device is up to you. We can't retrieve, restore, or delete anything for you. If iCloud sync isn't set up or isn't working, anything on a device that's lost or damaged may not be recoverable unless you have a backup file saved somewhere else.

Calryn tries to tell you when something is wrong rather than letting you find out later. It warns you when iCloud Keychain is switched off, when sync isn't working, and when it can't store what you're typing durably. Those warnings are worth reading when they appear. Taking your own backup from Settings → Your data is the one step that protects you in every case.

How Calryn handles your data is covered in full in the Privacy Policy. Calryn's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."
